HOW TO GET TO MONTEVIDEO FROM CARRASCO AIRPORT (MVD):

Carrasco International Airport (MVD) is the main international airport of Uruguay and serves Montevideo. Below you can find some options on how to get to Montevideo from the Airport:

  • By taxi: check the information (here).

  • Uber: the airport has a stop for Uber cars. You need the app to request this service (Android / iOS).

  • By bus: check buses schedules and plan your route (here). We suggest to take the bus line DM1 (to Punta Carretas). The ticket costs about 45 Uruguay pesos (approx. 1.2 US dollars / 1.1 euros).

Important:

  • Only a valid passport is necessary to travel to Uruguay. Foreign visitors do not need to submit special paperwork to immigration. You can check this information at the Uruguay's government website.

  • For currency exchange, there are several points closed to the workshop venue (Abitab or Red Pagos, por example). The exchange rates at the airport are not the best option, so consider to convert only a small amount of currency there if needed.

HOW TO CONNECT BETWEEN MONTEVIDEO AND BUENOS AIRES:

You can go to Buenos Aires from Montevideo by air or by sea.

  • The cheapest option is to take a ferry to Buenos Aires. The following companies provide this service: Buquebus, Colonia Express. Ferries can also be taken from Colonia del Sacramento, a touristic town in southwestern Uruguay facing Buenos Aires. Moreover, Buquebus and Colonia Express, apart from the ferry route Montevideo - Buenos Aires, also offer the route Montevideo - Colonia del Sacramento (by bus) - Buenos Aires (by ferry).

  • If you want to connect by air, we suggest the route Carrasco - Aeroparque. Aeroparque Jorge Newbery is an international airport located in northeast of downtown Buenos Aires, and so closer to the conference venue if compared to Ezeiza Airport.

Important: Please take in mind that immigration paperwork and requirements may differ between Argentina and Uruguay.
